Beer and Blog Portland

Last time I wrote, I said that March would focus on social skillz. Well it’s still March, so get out your party hat and floss your teeth. Yes, now that we’ve walloped bloglessness and joblessness, this Friday we’ll be putting an End to Awkwardness!*

And what better way to exercise our socializing muscles than to participate in one of the most revealing things you can share with a group: your karaoke song choice, of course. (Why are you looking at me like that?)

Join your fellow beer-and-bloggers at CubeSpace this Friday where KJs @MizD and @Chefchopper will spin (is that even the right word? I’m exposing my lame-ness here, aren’t I) any one of their thousands of digital karaoke songs for your crooning pleasure. (Edit: @Chefchopper will be arriving to the part-tay after 7pm.) Lyrics will be projected big and tall for those spontaneous sing-along moments that always happen when someone sings pretty much anything by Pat Benatar. (At the very least, there is involuntary toe tapping. Think about it.)

We’ll also have more Beer and Blog buttons to pass out. They’re beeutiful.

In case you didn’t know, @MizD and @Chefchopper host karaoke at the Penguin Pub & Eatery on 17th & Tacoma St. in Sellwood on Thursday nights from 8pm to midnight, and on Saturday nights from 9pm to 1am. (You should check them out, and give them lots of money.)

Anyone who wants to practice their art ahead of time (you know, to nail that one really high, really long note in Invincible) please tweet @MizD with your song request. @MizD will also hold a brief karaoke clinic before show time. Kind of a Rules of Karaoke from the KJ’s point of view rather than the singer’s. (The flip side of Alex William’s Ignite Portland 4 10 Karaoke Commandments presentation.)
